Flying Pig Alert! plus Saturday Tasting menu, new arrivals….

With the nicer weather and the start of gardening, yard care, baseball season, and everything else, it seems like everyone is super-busy lately. But we’re glad…those are all great reasons to enjoy a nice drink, too.  Here’s a quick note to let you know what’s going on at Bourbon & Canal:

FLYING PIG ALERT!!

Herding Cats Merlot-Pinotage, 3.0L box, regularly a bargain even at 19.99, but now an unbeatable deal at just 9.99!  Keep in mind that 3 liters is the equivalent of 4 regular-sized 750ml bottles of wine, so this is essentially getting a $10 quality wine for only 2.50. It will be on our free Saturday Tasting menu so you can see for yourself that this is a nice wine, just at a ridiculously cheap price!

Also on Sampling Saturday (always free, from noon to 10pm) will be one of our favorite summer beers, Leinenkugel Summer Shandy. This is a great, flavorful summer beer that’s brewed with some lemon in it, so it’s super refreshing. Stop in Saturday to get your first taste of Summer.

Saturday Tastings, Great Sales & New Arrivals

Winter may be gasping its last breath on us, but Ms. Winter has been around too long so we’re going to ignore her and start acting like it’s Spring! With that plan, we’ve chosen our lineup for our weekly free tastings (Saturdays, noon to 10pm). This weekend we’ll be pouring:

• Malibu Melon flavored rum – fruity and sweet, it’s an easy way to mix up a glass of Spring!
• Absolut Berri Acai flavored vodka – makes a tasty and refreshing berry cocktail, and it’s $2 off during our tasting.
• La Yunto Tinto red wine from Argentina – a Cabernet based blend with wonderfully dense flavors that makes a great dinner choice with red meat. And it’s nicely affordable at only 9.99.
• Left Hand Brewing’s Fade to Black – a serious beer in the Foreign Export Stout style with dark and rich coffee flavors. This is a one-shot deal available for a limited time only; if you like stouts you should try it.

• Sparks Red – a high-alcohol flavored malt beverage.
• Kenwood’s Jack London Zinfandel – an intense red zin with a dose of pepper in the taste profile
• A to Z Pinot Noir – thanks to those of you who suggested it….we’ve tasted this and thought it was pretty darn good. Find it in our Pacific Northwest section now.
• Lakefront Bock – the traditional beer of Spring in Germany, Bocks are both malty and hoppy. This is one of the first ones out this year – give it a try.
• Jager  Bomb cups – the specially shaped cups you use for Jager Bombs….we have ’em now!
